Palestinian-American Teenager Released Following Nine Months in Israeli Custody

A American-Palestinian teenager after completing a nine-month period in Israeli detention absent formal charges gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old during his detention in February within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit from his Florida home for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital right after being freed, according to close relatives.

They said he is pale, underweight, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, family spokesperson conveyed their "overwhelming sense of relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "living a horrific and endless nightmare" over the last nine months.

"Right now, we're concentrating on getting Mohammed urgent medical care he requires after experiencing harsh conditions and brutal treatment over several months."

US officials announced ongoing to offer diplomatic assistance for the Ibrahim family.

{"American leadership considers paramount than the safety and security of US citizens"," it added.

Several congressional representatives had signed a letter to diplomatic officials and the White House, requesting additional efforts to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, with four children who runs an ice cream business based in Tampa, had earlier stated his child admitted guilt to throwing stones after being assaulted by soldiers.

There were no visits or communicated with his son since February, learning information solely regarding the treatment in detention through court documents.

Mohammed was held without charge within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.

Additionally housing adult prisoners, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences including killings.

There are around 350 Palestinian child security detainees detained within Israeli facilities, per correctional service statistics.

Many have never been charged and human rights groups, and international organizations, report instances of physical abuse and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said the family would also continue fighting seeking justice for their relative family member Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen according to health authorities succumbed to assault by Israeli settlers amid clashes in July.

At the time, the Israeli military said they were examining information regarding a civilian had been killed.

The two cousins had worked together at their family's ice cream business in Tampa, Florida.

No charges have been filed for the cousin's murder.

"We demand United States leadership to safeguard our relatives," family representatives emphasized.
