Larry Summers Resigns from OpenAI Board
One-time economic leader Lawrence Summers is departing from the directorate at the artificial intelligence firm, just a week after a batch of electronic messages between him and deceased financier the accused trafficker became publicly available.
The economist remarked in a release that he was "thankful for the opportunity to have served, enthusiastic about the promise of the enterprise, and anticipate observing their advancement".
The former Harvard president, who previously headed the Ivy League institution, stated on recently that he would be scaling back from public responsibilities due to his relationship with the convicted sex offender.

The newly public emails revealed that the official exchanged messages with Epstein until the 24 hours preceding the financier's 2019 detention for suspected sex trafficking of underage individuals.
In a separate statement, the technology organization stated it accepted his decision to resign.

This development follows after the two houses of Congress decided on Tuesday to pass a bill that would require the US justice department to make public its files on the case.

After the emails were shared with the wider community, he stated he assumed "full responsibility for my ill-advised judgment to maintain corresponding with Mr Epstein".
He continued that he desired "to rebuild confidence and repair connections with the individuals nearest to me".

The economist held senior posts under Democratic administrations; serving as Treasury chief under Bill Clinton, and as head of the National Economic Council under the former leader.
