Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend following the team's ten-game winless beginning to the Premier League season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the team - are part of the names to be considered by the club ownership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton head coach - who made more than 100 of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves directors as they begin the process of hiring a new manager.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a shock choice given he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham United midfielder is out of work which means the club would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
