Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
