Aircraft Transporting US Defense Secretary Forced to Touch Down in UK Due to Crack in Cockpit Window
A jet carrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was compelled to make an unscheduled landing in the UK on Wednesday after a crack was identified in the aircraft's cockpit window, per an official announcement which confirmed that Hegseth was safe.
"The aircraft touched down following standard procedures and everyone onboard, including Pete Hegseth, is unharmed," a press officer commented in a public statement.
He was traveling back from a short visit to the Belgian capital at the time.
This incident isn't the first time that a United States armed forces jet carrying a top government figure has experienced technical problems.
In a previous incident this year, a US Air Force plane transporting Marco Rubio to Munich was compelled to return to the US capital after suffering a technical issue.
